The valve seat is usable on both sides, and its connection to the valve body through a compression method enhances the sealing class and stability of the valve, while greatly simplifying maintenance. This significantly improves the overall performance of the control valve.

How the YSIQ(D)20 Pressure-Balanced Trim Supports Selection

The YSIQ(D)20 is a pressure-balanced single-seat control valve for applications where differential pressure, shut-off requirements and actuator selection need to be reviewed together. Its plug uses balancing holes and sealing rings to form a force-balanced configuration designed for high differential-pressure conditions.

Pressure balance does not replace valve sizing. The selected trim, seat, actuator and pressure-temperature rating still need to be checked against the complete operating envelope, including minimum, normal, maximum and credible upset cases.

Construction and Maintenance Features

High-Differential-Pressure Review Checklist

Before selecting the YSIQ(D)20, review the following items with the valve supplier:

1. Required Cv/Kv at minimum, normal and maximum flow.
2. Inlet pressure, outlet pressure and differential pressure for each operating case.
3. Liquid, gas or steam phase and the relevant fluid properties.
4. Flashing, cavitation, noise, velocity and trim-erosion risk where applicable.
5. Required seat leakage class and shut-off condition.
6. Actuator thrust, fail position and available instrument air or power.
